International success for law students from Pécs in the Brussels regional round of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition

The team from the Faculty of Law at the University of Pécs advanced to the final phase of the preliminary rounds at the Brussels Regional Round of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition 

The team from the Faculty of Law at the University of Pécs achieved outstanding international success at the prestigious John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition, advancing to the final phase of the preliminary rounds at the Brussels Regional Round, held in an exceptionally strong international field. 
The John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition is widely regarded as one of the most distinguished academic competitions in international trade law. Based on the dispute settlement system of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the competition requires participating teams to prepare written submissions addressing a complex WTO legal case, followed by oral arguments conducted in a simulated proceeding.

 

For the students of the Faculty of Law at the University of Pécs, the competition represented an exceptional professional experience. Beyond deepening their understanding of WTO law in a realistic dispute context, the participants further developed their strategic thinking, structured advocacy skills, precision, and mental stamina. Team members: Dávid Molnár – Team Captain Tamás Tóth At the Brussels Regional Round, which featured twelve competing teams, the Pécs team competed against students from renowned institutions, including Sigmund Freud PrivatUniversität Wien (LL.M.) and the National University of Athens.

 

The professional standard of the competition was further underscored by the composition of the judging panels, which included diplomats, WTO experts, and lawyers from leading international law firms, ensuring a high level of evaluation and feedback. Advancing to the final phase of the preliminary rounds in such a highly competitive international environment constitutes a significant achievement, reflecting both the preparedness of the faculty’s students and the high standard of international legal education at the University of Pécs.
