Fulbright scholarship in the United States: Dr Zsófia Biró researches American space law

Dr Zsófia Biró, a research fellow at our faculty, is continuing her research in the United States with a Fulbright Visiting Scholar scholarship at the University of Mississippi School of Law, in collaboration with the Centre for Air and Space Law professional community.

Dr Zsófia Biró arrived in Mississippi a few days before the severe ice storm that hit the southern United States. The extraordinary situation that arose from the natural disaster—with transportation almost completely shut down and power and institutional closures—presented unexpected challenges in the first few weeks, so she will not be able to begin her research in earnest until the second week of February 2025. As he put it, in the period following his arrival, it was not primarily his space law skills that came to the fore, but rather his "survival" skills.

Fulbright's research focuses on examining US national space law regulations and institutional practices. His work aims to identify lessons and best practices from the US experience that can contribute to the development of future domestic regulations and related institutional frameworks.

The research period is not only a milestone from an academic point of view, but also provides an opportunity to build international professional relationships and strengthen the global visibility of Hungarian space law.
