The Faculty of Law in Pécs continues its work under new leadership

As of July 1, 2025, Dr. habil. Ágoston Csanád Mohay, associate professor, was appointed by the Rector as dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Pécs, for a four-year term, after Prof. Adrián Fábián’s appointment – which he had held since 2017 – concluded after two terms.

Dr. Ágoston Mohay has already played a decisive role in managing the Faculty of Law, having worked as the Vice-Dean for General Affairs and Internationalisation in the past two terms. In addition to his extensive teaching, research and scientific organisation activities, he also has outstanding merits in developing the international relations of the Faculty.
He is the Head of the Department of International and European Law and the founding head of the Research Group on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, established in 2021. Previously, he managed the Centre for European Research and Education for years and worked in the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights.
His commitment to talent management has been going on for over a decade, and he has been the head of the ‘Óriás Nándor’ College for Advanced Studies since 2013.
According to his leadership credo, the Faculty has all the essential qualities to develop regardless of external circumstances. He considers conscious, persistent, fair, and thoughtful leadership critical, and he would like to enforce the interests of the entire community. The goal of his new term as dean is not only to preserve the results achieved so far, but also to further develop them, with the active involvement of the faculty community.

The new Faculty leadership started its work on July 1, 2025. The dean will be assisted by two vice-deans:
Dr.  Éva Tünde Csoknya, PhD – Vice-Dean for General and Educational Affairs
Prof. Dr. István László Gál – Vice-Dean for Academic and International Affairs

The new management aims to strengthen further the domestic and international position of the Faculty of Law in Pécs, in cooperation with the faculty community, and to ensure that legal education in Pécs continues to represent the highest standards in the future.
