Research center will be established at the Faculty of Law in Pécs in cooperation with the Netherlands

The Faculty of Law of the University of Pécs has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 31 March 2021 with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Budapest, the Hungarian Embassy in The Hague and the Netherlands National Police to establish a research centre at the Faculty of Law focusing on combating trafficking in human beings.

Trafficking in human beings continues to be one of the most serious types of transnational crimes that the European Union and its Member States have to face. The research centre to be set up in the autumn of 2021 is intended to carry out innovative theoretical and empirical research into the fight against trafficking in human beings in the context of EU law and international law, in close cooperation with the organisations supporting its establishment.

In order to maintain the quality and relevance of the research, the partners consider it important to involve stakeholders, such as law enforcement authorities and civil society as well, in order to achieve research results that can be utilized both in theory and practice.
