Dr. Jorn van Rij, visiting professor of the Faculty of Law receives the Hungarian Gold Cross of Merit

Dr. Jorn van Rij, visiting professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Pécs, and senior advisor to the Netherlands National Police, has been awarded the Hungarian Gold Cross of Merit (Civilian Division).

Dr. van Rij was awarded the state medal in recognition of his exemplary scientific expertise and consultancy work in the fight against human trafficking in cooperation with Hungarian authorities and organisations.

The Faculty of Law is proud that dr. van Rij has been involved in its academic and professional life for more than a decade: he had received his doctoral degree (PhD) from the Doctoral School of the Law Faculty and has regularly held guest lectures at in several teaching programmes of the Faculty. In Autumn 2021, the international research group on combating trafficking in human being of the Faculty of Law of the University of Pécs was established with the support of dr. van Rij. Since winter 2022, dr. van Rij works as international visiting professor at the Faculty of Law in Pécs, with the financial support of the Universitas Quinqueecclesiensis Foundation.
